Racist help - Rasistowska
Pomoc
I
have received the 2011 University Telethon. This is action which is organised by Vice Chancellor Glyn Davis. I am not sure
that this appeal is fully justified. From my experience as a student at the University of Melbourne, who was forced to recover
Master degree which was ‘stolen’ from me by some Australian ‘authority’, it
is rather confirmation of the discrimination and racism. I came to Australia
as a professional, having nearly 10 years of working experience as an engineer
and scientist from Poland. Before coming to Australia we, as Polish
professionals, had to prove that we have excellent health and very good
professional record. It was only one place in the world, the Embassy in Warsaw, where we were
subjected to very detailed health examination. We had to prove that we were
very good professionals by sending vast amount of documents to the
Engineering Institute of Australia.
After coming to Australia
we were kept in the condition of the convict. Our Master degree from the best
Polish University was ‘stolen’ and we were
forced to do Master degree at Australian universities which in many cases
were second category. I had chosen the University
of Melbourne however I did not have
any financial help from the University
of Melbourne and any
facilities at university to do research work. Doing Master degree by
coursework in Cognitive Science I had to do research without access to the
university facilities and I was doing research using only my private very
limited resources. I was only able to finish my research work because my wife
managed to get a part time job at Latrobe
University. I would
like to underline that in Poland
I have started my PhD and due to ‘stealing’ my Master degree in Australia I was not allowed to continue my PhD
in Australia.
It was especially discriminative at the Computer Science department ruled by prof. Kotargiri. After
graduation (Master degree) I was not allowed to continue my research toward
PhD, having three supervisors. I personally delivered documents connected
with continuation of my PhD to Dr Moffat and until now no one can tell me what
happened with my documents. I had to do my PhD in Poland and currently I am working
without any salary and any financial support from any Australian institution,
doing very important research in understanding. For my research I was
selected to many international scientific institutions and three times I was
listed in ‘Who is Who’ in the world. My latest book is paving the way in the
new area of research on thinking, understanding and building of the thinking
machine. I am working in a very “poor condition” and many times I was
expelled from my flat. I had also a very bad experience when I was employed
by the University
of Melbourne. Working
as a senior software engineer I was forced to work in a library in the
Department of Philosophy of Science. Library was full of students. My work
demanded to work in a special condition (ergonomic) in order to be able to
achieve very good results. Dr N. Thomason from the Department of Philosophy
of Science made everything to create such an unfriendly environment in order
to make it impossible to work effectively and to achieve very good results.
Despite of such discriminative and racist attitude of the manager, I was able
to implement a very good prototype of the program of the visualization and
explanation of the statistical models. I was very shocked when during
presentation of the results of work of our team (ARC grant project) at the conference, my name was omitted in the paper presented. I
would like to stress that during working at this project I had a very big
scientific contribution having very good experience in working on the similar
project in Poland.
It showed how big discrimination and racism was at the University of Melbourne,
during my study and my work there. Dr Thomason was such a good referee that I
didn’t obtain any position when I applied after that project. In this
situation I simply do not feel that any such appeal is justified. I would
like to ask the Vic Chancellor to help me to continue my research at the University of Melbourne
with a salary and access to all facilities which every researcher has at the University of Melbourne. I would be grateful for
restoration of the cognitive science course which was, very strangely closed
after my graduation. I was one of the few graduates who could be employed to have
lectures for students and to do research in the Cognitive Science. This is
very strange why such a new area and very promising for students was suddenly
closed at the University
of Melbourne. As a
graduate I feel very deceived because it was also very cruel and very
purposefully done depravation of possibility of continuation of research and
employment after graduation from the Cognitive Science. I was most brilliant
scientist at the University
of Melbourne who was
doing research in cognitive science. My latest research achievements are very
good confirmation of the discrimination and racisms at the University of Melbourne.
The Queen Jadwiga Research Institute of Understanding and my research became
more and more popular in the world when the University of Melbourne
is drifting toward being more and more American and by this without any face
Australian education institution. It is worthy to underline that the university
is created by scientists who have very good achievements but not by some
teaching profile taken from some other institution. Only very big racism and
discrimination which is still so present at some universities notables is one
of the biggest obstacles to employ scientists who have very vivid scientific
achievements from country such as Poland.
