Solemn Mass in St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Melbourne

St. Patrick’s Cathedral – a general view

St. Jadwiga Queen is more and more known in Australia because of the information activities of the Queen Jadwiga Foundation each year on 8 June. It is important to remind Australians that St. Jadwiga Queen is a Patron of politicians and students. St. Patrick’s Cathedral is then an appropriate place to celebrate St. Jadwiga’s feast. It is important to explain that St. Patrick’s Cathedral is in the neighborhood of the Victorian Parliament and other Government Departments, The Catholic University and the University of Melbourne. Many Members of Parliament, Government staff members, academics and students come to pray in the cathedral. We hope that soon St. Jadwiga Queen will be in hearts of those people and stay in St. Patrick’s Cathedral for good.

Before the Mass in St. Patrick’s Cathedral

Seeing praying Australians during the Mass shows that St. Jadwiga becomes the Saint of the entire Catholic Church. And all this happens thanks to activities and examples given by Polish Catholics.

Mass in the Wawel Cathedral Kraków, Poland

This year, gorgeous red roses from the Queen Jadwiga Foundation created a beautiful composition together with the flowers prepared by Ms. M. Kuś. This is already a tradition giving a red rose for our Patron St. Jadwiga Queen.

On 12 June 2011, the Solemn Mass at 10am in the Wawel Cathedral was concelebrated by Father prof. Kubiś, (professor from the John Paul II University in Kraków), Prelate Z. Sochacki and other Fathers. Sermon said by Father Sochacki will stay for a long time in the hearts of teachers, students and all people who participated in the Mass. After the Mass all participants walked from the Coronation Altar to the altar with Black Crucifies where St. Jadwiga’s Queen reliques are kept.

At the altar with Black Crucifics the awards ‘St. Jadwiga’s Queen statues with a pearl’ were handed over to the laureates. On the pictures below awards receive: father prof. A. Fryźlewicz (for Cardinal F. Macharski), Prof. J. Bruzda and sister prof. A. Sielepin.

In 2011 students – laureates are P. Pielacińska, P. Walter and K. Surowiak.

In the year 2011, the Queen of the Year Natalia Marek received ‘the treasure of faith’ – a golden cross with a precious gem (Victorian topaz). All awards were handed over by Prelate Z. Sochacki.
